Born on August 5, 1937 in Maury County, Wilma was the daughter of the late James Washington Shouse and Mary Bessie Widmore Shouse. She was the wife of the late David F. "Dood" Stanfill who preceded her in death on June 19, 1991.

Wilma worked for ABC Cleaners owned by the Dooley family, but most of all she was a devoted, wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passion was cooking, especially making fried apple pies and biscuits with anything you could fit on them. She passed down her inspiration for cooking to her children and grandchildren. She crocheted blankets and many kitchen towels for her grandchildren, family and many friends. Wilma helped anyone who was in need and was a "mother" to many. She enjoyed making lunch for all those who worked for the family, and everyone she knew. She inspired a legacy of care and concern for others that will be carried on by her loved ones.

Wilma loved mule pulling contests and mule day and she attended the festivities with her husband for many years.

During her time as a resident at Signature Health Care, Wilma helped many of the residents and was voted Resident of the Month and Valentine's Day Queen on more than one occasion. She was a long time member of the Johnson's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Wanda Charles Newcomb of Chapel Hill, John Laquita Stanfill of Columbia, Denise Winford Self of Santa Fe, Tammy James Mangrum of Santa Fe and a special family friend whom she cared for, James Irwin of Nashville; sisters: Mary R.B. Potts and Margaret Millard Maxwell, both of Santa Fe and Elizabeth Bill Brunson of Columbia; grandchildren: Phillip Tiffany Mills, Joey Mandy Mills, Brian LaDonna Stanfill, Stephanie Thomas Dale, Daniel Christie Walls, Dana Josh Pemberton, Amanda Gilbert Buchanan, and Andrea Mangrum,; great-grandchildren: Evan, Ryan, Garrett, Gracie and Garrison Mills, Sawyer Stanfill, Terralyn and Hunter Pemberton; step-grandchildren: Brionna and Cheyenne Isabell.

Wilma was preceded in death by one son: David Ray Stanfill, three sisters: Thelma Oakley, Genevieve Hill and Pauline Andrews and three brothers: Raleigh Shouse, Van "Buster" Shouse and Fred Shouse.

Pallbearers will be Nelson Roberts, Guy Potts, Dewayne Andrews, Phil Stanfill, Troy Lott, Bucky Rowland, Jim Dodson and Anthony Stanfill. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Signature Health Care, Dr. Richard D. Kennedy, Donnie Walls, Moody Mitchell, Carl Hutcherson and T.J. Hill.
