Willie Charles Wilkins, age 83, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.
Charles was born November 21, 1936 in Chilton County, Alabama to the late Bernice Wilkins and the late Lady Mae Grey Wilkins. After finishing high school and returning from his honorable service in the Navy, Charles spent most of his life working on the railroad. He worked as a track foreman and was responsible for laying and repairing track. When he was home he was all about his family. He loved his family dearly, his children described him as a loving and patient man but firm when he needed to be. When he wasn’t working he might be fishing or when he was younger racing dirt track cars. Charles was a hard-working family man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Charles is survived by his wife: Mary Alice Wilkins; children: Kim Annis (Benny), Terry “Tater” Crumley (Kandi), and Tracey Wilkins (Teri); grandchildren: Logan Wilkins, Makayla Wilkins, Cherise Scott (Earl), Eric Owens, Wesley Ownes, Promila Crumley, Elijah Crumley, and Malachi Crumley; 4 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; siblings: George Wilkins (Joyce) and Lillie Faye Traywick. Charles is preceded in death by his son Michael Crumley and brother James Wilkins.
The family will visit with friends from 11:00 until service time Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday with burial to follow at Hill Town Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
