William C. "Joe" "Too Tall" Bishop

William C. "Joe" "Too Tall" Bishop was born September 27, 1938 in Summertown, TN, to the late Howard and Edna McAfee Bishop. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the 1960s. He formerly had worked for Industrial Products and the Gas Co. in Mt. Pleasant. His most recent employment was in grounds maintenance for Southeastern Shirt Corp.
Joe loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting. But his main passion was antiquing and he loved searching through old grist mills and finding grindstones and had quite a collection of all of his "found treasures." He had attended the Methodist church.
Joe formerly lived on Old State Road in Hampshire and passed away on Monday, January 3 at Hidden Acres Health Care in Mt. Pleasant.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 8:00 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Inurnment will be on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Summertown Cemetery in Summertown with Rev. Dwight Liles officiating.
Survivors include his brothers: David Johanna Bishop of Murfreesboro and Eddie Nida Bishop of Mt. Pleasant; a sister: Freddie Kelsey of Las Vegas, NV; his caregiver, Reba Duberry of Hampshire; grandchildren: Paige Duberry and Shae Duberry both of Hampshire and several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Eddie Bishop, Matt Bishop, Kristie Henderson and Jeremiah Bishop.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a niece, Dana Bishop and a grandson, Eli Duberry.
