William Douglas Wood

William “Doug” Douglas Wood, age 75 of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his home.

Doug was born on January 16, 1939 to the late William Harvey Wood and Ruth Smith Wood. He was married to Retha McKnight on January 7, 1959. Doug was a graduate of The University of Tennessee and served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was an accountant for many years before becoming the owner and operator of Bypass Nursery and Garden Center.

He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ. Doug loved his family and loved his Lord.
The family will visit with friends on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant Saturday, June14, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. with Randy Kersey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

In addition to his loving wife Retha Wood, he is survived by his son Jim Wood, daughter Julie Wood, grandson Justin (Ciji) Robinette, granddaughter Jessica Wood, great-granddaughter Lennon Robinette, great-grandson Barrett Robinette, and numerous cousins.
Doug was preceded by his parents William Harvey Wood and Ruth Smith Wood, and brother Larry Wood.

Pallbearers are Justin Robinette, Kevin Sims, Andy Craig, Tyler Willis, Chad Craig, Tommy Smith, Barry Boshers and Mike McKnight.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry McKnight, Roland McKnight, Pat Hickman, Jessie Quirk, and Jim Bailey.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to: Dr. Charles Ball, Dr. Grant Bear, Carrie Barr, Dr. Dan Skarzynski, Fresenius Peritoneal Dialysis Center Staff, special niece Tammy Dodd, and special friend Faye Brawner.
