William Walker Prince

Mr. William Walker Prince, age 89, a resident of Cathey's Creek Rd in the Hampshire community passed away Monday at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Prince will be conducted Thursday Oct. 16 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother David Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19.

The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The Hickman County native was the son of the late, Alonzo "Lon" Newton Prince and Martha "Mattie" C. George Prince. He was the widower of Anna Ruth Savage Prince. Mr. Prince enlisted in the Army on December 30, 1941. He was a radio mechanic and operator and served as flight chief in the operation and maintenance of airplane radios in six major campaigns including Normandy Northern France and Rhineland Central Europe. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant Casual Pool Army Air Forces European Theater on September 26, 1945. Mr. Prince was an elder of Cathey's Creek Church of Christ.

He is survived by his children: Thomas "Tommy" Walker Prince of Nashville, Lynn Ronnie Johnson of Hampshire and Jenny Louise Prince of Nashville; one granddaughter: Amanda Johnson of Clarksville; one sister-in-law: Reba Savage of Hampshire. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Janie Susan Prince; three sisters: Mary Alice Prince, Maggie Prince Jenkins and Clara Prince Eleazer; two brothers: Dick Prince and James Prince.

Pallbearers will be James Barry Prince, Donald Duncan, Wayne Prince, John Eglinton, David Kincade, Michael Massey, Gwynn Savage, Jeff Whiteside and Ronnie Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Davis, Kenneth Travis, Sr. and
elders of the Cathey's Creek Church of Christ, Larry Church, Mark Jones, Benny Morton, Joe Sam Savage and Cecil Whiteside.
