William Pillow "Pete" Trousdale

October 9, 1921 — February 3, 2011

William Pillow "Pete" Trousdale was born October 9, 1921 in Maury County, the son of the late Estes Trousdale and Lena Wilson Trousdale. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He retired as a railroad clerk after 42 years of service with the L & N Railroad. In 1944 he married Evelyn Finley and they were happily married and devoted to each other for 66 years. Pete was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason. In his early years, Pete enjoyed hunting and fishing and later he and Evelyn enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. He loved doing yard work with his son, Sonny. Pete was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Pete Deena Trousdale, Jr. and Sonny Patty Trousdale, both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: William Daphne Trousdale III of Mt. Pleasant, Misty Jeffrey Skelton of Columbia and Patrick Sarah Catherine Trousdale of Ethridge; great-grandchildren: Ansley Roberts of Columbia, Skyler Trousdale of Ethridge, Deanna Trousdale of Mt. Pleasant, Finley Grace Skelton of Columbia, Gracie Catherine Trousdale of Ethridge, Gunner Skelton of Columbia and William "Will" Trousdale IV of Mt. Pleasant; one brother: Ralph Trousdale of Hohenwald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Raymond E. Trousdale.

Pete passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Pisgah Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Wright officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M.
