William “Tommy” McGee, age 77, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on November 5, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Tommy was born on December 6, 1939 in Giles County to the late Clarence and Flaurice McGee. Farming was one of Tommy’s greatest passions. He enjoyed growing crops, raising cattle and restoring and building farm equipment. He built a windmill and restored many tractors. During his years of farming Tommy was awarded the “Farmer of the Year”. He was the past Vice President and Past Director of the Tennessee-Kentucky Threshermen’s Association. He was recently awarded the 2017 Volunteer of the year in Adams Tennessee. He could also be found working on vehicles and could be referred to as “the best shade tree mechanic around.” Tommy was a truly patriotic man. He was quiet, private and humble. He loved his family very much; including his four dogs: Dakota, Rocky, Molly and Boo.
Tommy leaves behind his Daughters: Teresa Stewart (Terry Pride), Susie (Dennis) Malugin, Sharon (Rich) Ostrander and Virginia “Ginger” McGee; Grandchildren: Bubba Stewart (Dani Dyer), Zack (Lexis) Stewart, Lauren Malugin Jones, Shelby (Dillon) Scott, Dexter Daniels, Baylee Ostrander, Charlie Ostrander, Paige Pruitt and Nellie Sue Ellen McGee; 15 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Connie McGee Morris Deason and multiple nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his special friend: Robert Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his Wife: Nellie Sue Cothran McGee; Parents: Clarence and Flaurice McGee; Siblings: Clarence E. McGee Jr., James Alfred McGee and Jennie Mae McGee Flynt and Son in Law: Al Stewart.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Reverend Dickey Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. American Legion Post 19 will perform military honors.
Pallbearers are: Bubba Stewart, Zack Stewart, Dexter Daniels, Charlie Ostrander, Jimmy McGee, Terry Pride and Mike Flynt. Honorary Pallbearers are: Robert Mitchell, Matt Morris, O’Dell Haywood, Ed Deason, Jimmy White, Bug McGee and Jeff McGee.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
