William L. “Leon” Henson, age 76, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Hickman County Nursing Home.
Leon was born on January 13, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Raymond and Octavia Crews Henson. He was married to Norma Jean Johnson Henson and had one son, Scotty. Leon was retired from Tennessee Aluminum Processors as a truck driver and had also worked at Harris Trucking.
His family recalls that he was a hard working man. He was extremely friendly and never met a stranger. He was colorful and big talker. He loved children, especially his grandkids.
Leon is survived by his wife: Norma Jean Johnson Henson of Mt. Pleasant; son: Scotty (Patti) Henson of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Kaynon (Brittney) Henson, Kassidy Henson and Deanna Mayle; great-grandchildren: Peyton and Macy Mayle; siblings: Larry W. (Josephine) Henson, Joann Thompson and Ruth McKennon. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Jimmy Henson and Carolyn Chatman; and nieces: Barbara Heflin and Diane Mennutti.
Funeral services for Mr. Henson will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Dickey Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Danny Ray Henson, Jimmy “Boo” Henson, Evan Chatman, Ricky Chatman, Gary McKennon and Stevie McConnell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Arnold, Sandra Stewart, Tammy Gregg, Chris Kimbro, Nicole Webb, Dr. Mirza and many others of the nursing staff at Hickman County Nursing Home. The family would like to give special thanks to Hickman County Nursing Home, not only for being good to Leon, but to the family as well.
