William Thomas Lamar, Jr., age 78, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
William was born on December 8, 1936 in Maury County, Tennessee to William Thomas Lamar, Sr. and Jurlean Beckum Lamar. He married Marilyn Taylor on December 8, 1957. Marilyn preceded William in death in 2014 after fifty-six years of marriage. Although William was well known for his sense of humor, wit, and ability to be mischievous, everyone agreed that he was the most genuine person that you would ever meet. After retiring as a safety mechanic from a forty-one year career at Zeneca Inc., William formed Lamar’s Painting. William was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, where he served as a deacon.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Ezell Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
William is survived by his daughter Pamela (Dennis) Pickering; granddaughters Kali (Nathan) Richards; Erin (Darren) Dehut, and Leah (fiancé Javier Guererro, Jr.) Pickering; great-grandson William Beckett Richards; brother J.B. (Ann) Lamar; sister Alice Mae (Bobby Joe) Fitzgerald; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Taylor Lamar and parents Thomas and Jurlean Lamar, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Richards, Darren Dehut, Javier Guererro, Jr., J.B. Lamar, Bobby Joe Fitzgerald, and Howard Scruggs.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Memorials can be given in William’s honor to Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
