Mr. William Edward Hendrix passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.
He was born on April 29, 1940 to the late Ada Elizabeth Hendrix in the Campbellsville Community in Giles County, Tennessee. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and served honorably as a sharpshooter. On March 24, 1962 he married his wife Dorothy Faye Davis Hendrix and they shared many happy years together raising their family.
He worked hard earning a living supporting his family spending time working in construction, building houses and later retired as a line supervisor from Atmos Energy. His family remembers that he could fix anything. There was no end to what he could do in that regard. He built furniture for his wife which she treasures and toy boxes for the grandchildren. His daughter Patricia remembers going frog giggin’ with him and helping him work around the house. His oldest daughter, Doris, remembers that he was loving and kind, gave good advice and was a “softie”.
In addition to his wife, William is survived by his children: Doris (Mark) Holt of Pulaski and Patricia Pepper of Columbia; grandchildren: Amanda Adams, Garrison Holt, Hunter Garrett, and Colton Green; and siblings: Josie Boswell, Christine Oliver, Jimmy (Wanda) Dean, Joyce Ann Dean and Carl Ray Dean. He was preceded in death by his brother: James Riley Hendrix.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home at 819 N. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynnwood Cemetery with military honors being provided by the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night at Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Clay Oliver, Terry Oliver, Chris Oliver, Larry Adams, Terry Green and Kent Younger. Ron Davis England will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
