William Gardner Head, passed away on April 7, 2021, at the age of 93. He was the son of George Head and Fannie Mae Whitley, born on December 9, 1927, in Williamsport Tennessee.
Following Gardner’s graduation from high school he went into the United States Army where he served honorably during WWII and Korean War. He was always a person that loved being outside and wasn’t afraid of hard work. Upon returning home he attended Columbia Business College and was a long-term bookkeeper at Harlan Oil Company. He simultaneously began farming and raising cattle. He met the light of his life, Mildred in 1979 and they were married in 1982. Together they raised a family filled with love and eventually were rewarded with grandchildren whom he adored. He took every opportunity he could to be with them and pass on his wisdom and love. He always loved playing baseball and was an avid Braves fan. He also enjoyed watching football on a Sunday afternoon. Gardner throughout his life never met a stranger, and developed many friendships along the way. He will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew him.
