William Thomas Green, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, in Columbia, Tennessee. William was born on January 5, 1932, to the late William Nick Green and Ethel Angus Green in Columbia, Tennessee. A lifelong resident of Columbia, William grew up with six siblings who have all preceded him in death.
William married the love of his life, Gracie Nelson Green, and together they raised four beautiful daughters in their hometown. In his early twenties, William felt a strong duty to serve his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he pursued a career at Monsanto Chemical Company, where he worked diligently until his retirement.
William's legacy is carried on by his daughters: Carol Bradford, Connie James, and Donna James; his grandchildren: David Green, Jonathan Bradford, Michael James, Jason James, Kenneth James, Toni Lynn Evans, and Michelle Middlebrooks; and his great-grandchildren: Skylar, Will, Logan, Gracie, Jesse, Nick, Brysen, Tristen, Madison, Haylee, Braelynn, Joseph, and Kylie.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gracie Green, and his daughter, Lois Evans.
Funeral service for William will be Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with one hour of visitation before service time. William will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Honored as pallbearers are Jason James, Kenneth James, Michael James, David Green, Jonathan Bradford, Brysen James, Nick James, and Tristen James.
William's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. His dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his hard work throughout his career leave an enduring mark on the hearts of many.
