William Gant Scott

Mr. William Gant Scott, age 64, a resident of Arthur Hutcherson Road, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the former residence of his beloved father-in-law, Robert "Pop' George and mother-in-law Evelyn "Mom" George on Knob Creek Road.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Frank Smith, Rev. Larry McGranahan and Rick Points officiating. Music will be provided by Elton Sisk and Sonya Wyatt. Burial will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.and one hour prior to time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late William Louis Scott and Martha Fly Scott. He was a 1963 graduate of Santa Fe High School. He worked for Frakes Electric for 20 years during which time he installed the first air conditioning unit at Central High School. He was the owner of Scott Boys Electric, Inc., for 25 years. He was a master electrician and HVAC tech. He was the Carrier Equipment dealer for Maury County. William was a member of the Fly Nazarene Church and had attended Godwin Chappell United Methodist Church and Mt. Wesley-Akin Nazarene Church. He was married to Allene George Scott on September 26, 1964. They have one son Tim and his wife Bonnie Griggs Scott, whom William loved as a daughter. Tim worked in the business and on the farm alongside his father every day. They were devoted to their wonderful customers. Tim and Bonnie are the parents of Paw's pride and joy, Makayla Beth Scott.
William has nine surviving brothers and sisters: Louise Jimmy Faulkner, Janie John Dressel, Calvin Addie Bea Scott, Wayne Linda Crigger Scott, Kenneth Martha Scott, Jean Clark, Annette Ronnie South, David Carol Scott, Reddick Debbie Scott; sister-in-law: Dawn Scott and brother-in-law: Rickie Clark. A special brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Enoch and Phyllis George; nieces and nephews: Reatha James Irwin, James Evelyn Faulkner, Debbie David Hill, Cheryl Dean Johnson, Jerry Cindy Faulkner, Alan Pam Faulkner, Kevin Amy Scott, Candi Rodney Adams, Danny Lawson, Crystal Jenkins, Charlie Scott, Greg Rhonda Scott, Jennifer C.J. Allen, Savanna Clark, Joey Julie South, Josh South, Derrick Scott, Drew Amanda Scott, Mallori Charlie Plunkett, Dayton Scott, Bryan Dannette George, Stacey Warf and Michael Warf; aunts: Marie Paysinger and Evelyn Frank Alexander.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert "Pop" George and Evelyn "Mom" George.
Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be friends, neighbors and customers of Scott Boys Electric, Inc. Special thanks to our loving and caring nurse, Stephanie Huffman, Dr. Gibran Naddy and his nurse, Samantha, Dr. Amit Choksi, Stella Whelley, Dr. James Richardson, Carolyn Benefield, Billy Benefield and all our family, neighbors and friends who have been so faithful through this terrible time of sickness.
