William E. Burks Sr.

March 7, 1934 — May 22, 2003

Mr. William E. Burks Sr., 69, a resident of Wheeler Street in Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Williamson Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Burks will be Saturday May 24, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Reverend Dickey Lyndsey and Reverevd Charles Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Claude and Mattie Workman Burks and the husband of Patricia A. Attkisson Burks. Mr. Burks was retired truck driver with Harris Trucking and a member of Enterprise United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Burks is survived by one son, Bill Burks Jr., of Brentwood; one brother, Rayburn Dean Burks of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Doris Bridges of Columbia and Martha Faye Boshers of Camden; two grandsons, Will Burks III and Matthew Campbell Burks, both of Brentwood; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Earnhart of Joelton, a great-grandson, Luke Allen of Joelton and a daughter-in-law, Carrie Burks of Nashville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burks is preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Mae Roberts.

Pallbearers will Will Burks, Matthew Burks, Bobby Attkisson, Tom Wilson, Ray Floyd, Dan Blankenship, Ted Sisco, Michael Boshers and Tony Bridges.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Bobby White, Dr. Jerry Franklin, Dr. Greg Friesinger and Joe Coble.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.
