Mr. William Charles Warden, 86, a longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Warden will be conducted Friday, March 6 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother Jim Walsh and Bill Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late William Hugh and Ruby Pearl Gardner Warden. He was first married 47 years to Frances Pitts Warden of Mt. Pleasant and then 6 years to Mary McNeeley Warden of Mooresville, both preceding him in death. He attended Fountain Heights and Culleoka schools in Maury County. Mr. Warden was a furnace tech with Stauffer Chemical Company and retired with 34 years of service. He was a longtime member of Locust Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by a sister: Helen Warden Dudley Hardaway, Jr. of Columbia; nieces and nephews: Thomas "Rick" Hammond, James "Jim" Lisa Hammond, Julia Hammond Stephen Manley and Ray Colleen Pitts all of Columbia, Charles Linda Mabry of Summertown; great nieces and great nephews: Jeremy Matthew Courtney Hammond, Roland Stephen Manley, Redford Hammond Manley, Gretta Synclair Hammond and Helen Grace Hammond. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Warden Hammond and a brother-in-law, Thomas V. Hammond.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Ricky "Rick" Hammond, James "Jim" Warden Hammond, Jeremy Matthew Hammond, Stephen Manley, Ray Pitts and Charles Edward Mabry. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Stauffer Chemical Company, members of Locust Street Church of Christ, staff of Life Care Center of Columbia and Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens Center.
