William C. Pitts

January 27, 1925 — May 22, 2009

Mr. William C. Pitts, known as "Little Daddy" age 84 , a life long resident of North Locust St. in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, May 22 , 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Pitts will be conducted Monday May 25 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Ricky William Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Pitts was born in Maury County, the son of the late George and Maybelle Pitts. William retired with over 30 years as a conductor for L & N Railroad. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and was an avid rabbit hunter, fisherman and deer hunter. Mr. Pitts was a taxidermist for many years and was a member of the Tabernacle Church of Summertown.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ann Curtis Pitts of Mt. Pleasant, as well as his beloved children, Ricky William Sandy Pitts of Summertown, Sheila Ann Jerry Hooper of Mt. Pleasant and Ronald Melvin Belinda Pitts of Summertown; grandchildren: Kaleb Pitts and Madison Pitts of Summertown, Jerry Lee Hooper of Mt. Pleasant, and Cody Pitts of Summertown; two sisters, Margaret Parsons and Carol Goodman of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Pitts and a sister, Nellie White.

Pallbearers will be Kasey Ambrose, John Dixon, Timmy Darnell, Hal Curtis, Brian Gobble and Adam Konig. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry young, Tommy Entrekin, Kevin Ambrose, Brent Johns, Randy Curtis, Marty Carroll, Mickey Littrell, L & N Railroad, Dr. James Marshall, Dr. Cummins couch, Dr. Janice Vinson, Maury Regional Home Health, Hospice Compassus and a special nurse, Sheila Prince. A special caregiver, Olivia Whiteside.

Memorials may be made to The Tabernacle Church Building Fund, 192 Railroad Bed Pike, Summertown, TN 38483.
