Will Cecil "Bill" Robinette

Mr. Will Cecil "Bill" Robinette, a long time resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, April 9, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Robinette will be conducted Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 A.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Larry Sturges and Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Hampshire native was the son of Will and Ethel Jones Robinette. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Rosson Robinette. He graduated from Central High School in 1938 and served in the US Navy in World War II from 1942 -1945.

Mr. Robinette returned to work at Victor Chemical Works in Mt. Pleasant. He started his career in the dairy business in 1946 with Thompson Dairy in Mt. Pleasant. In 1950, he and his brother Ross bought Jersey Pride Creamery in Columbia which he operated until his retirement in 1986.

He was one of the founding members of the Main Street Church of Christ. Mr. Robinette was a 61 year member of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge #610, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and was also a Shriner. He was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, VFW and the Elks Lodge. He was also a cattle farmer and an avid outdoorsman and golfer.


Mr. Robinette is survived by a son, Hunter Stephanie Robinette of Mt. Pleasant, a daughter, Carol Bailey of Columbia, four grandchildren, Kimberly Nicholas Boutis of Nesconset, NY, Kelly Bailey of Nashville, Justin Robinette and Jackson Robinette both of Mt. Pleasant, one great-granddaughter, Sophia Boutis of Nesconset, NY, one sister, Melba Robinette Vest of Mt. Pleasant, a devoted friend, Ruth Floyd of Mt. Pleasant and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to give special recognition to Kay Spears and special caregiver, Ruby Vandiver, both of Mt Pleasant. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Robinette, Mary Robinette Evans and three brothers, Ross Jones Robinette, James Ross Robinette and Carl Hunter Robinette.

Pallbearers will be Justin Robinette, Nicholas Boutis, Ruskin Vest, Jr., John Sturges, Randy "Buzz" Floyd and Ronald Dinwiddie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Clark, Allen Clark, Billy Roy Thompson, Ted and Geri Sisco, Jackye Dale, Harry and Joy Roberts, R.B. Jennette, Don Bailey, Dr. Robert Bob Johnson, Billy Hollis, members of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club, and Members of the Main Street Church of Christ.
