Willard Bailey Grimes

Willard Bailey Grimes, Sr., age 92, long time resident of the Mt. Joy Community, passed away on Saturday, February 15, at his residence.

Mr. Grimes was born November 30, 1927 in the Mt. Joy Community, the son of the late Clarence G. Grimes and Rosa Vandygriff Grimes. On April 18, 1948 he married Kathryn King Grimes.

Willard retired as a supervisor with Stauffer Chemical Company and was a long time tobacco and cattle farmer. He was a United States Navy veteran of WW II. He was a lifelong member of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Grimes of Mt. Joy; one son, Billy (Janette) Grimes of Columbia; grandchildren, Michael (Sharon) Bobo, Daniel Bobo, Scott Tilghman, Keith (Angie) Tilghman and Cody (Richard) Nichols; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Stikeleather; one brother, Walton Grimes and two sisters, Dora Jean McCanless and Wilma Behel.

Funeral services for Mr. Grimes will be conducted Wednesday, February 19, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Mark King officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for Willard will be his great-grandchildren: Kristin Tilghman, Stephen Tilghman, Dalton Tilghman, Bailey Nichols, Carter Tilghman, Addison Nichols, Christian Bobo, Clayton Bobo, Carson Bobo, Ashley Bobo and Kelsey Bobo. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders and congregation of Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
