Wilbur Keith Rogers

Mr. Wilbur Keith Rogers, age 88, resident of Timberwood Drive in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Rogers will be conducted Friday, March 12th at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Elmer Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born November 1, 1921 in Cordova, TN, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Cassie Reed Rogers and the husband of Charleen Higgs Rogers and the late Julia Strickland Rogers. During WW II, from August 1942 until November 1945, Keith served as a Sgt. with the United States Air Force. He retired as a claims supervisor from TN Farmers Mutual Insurance after 37 1/2 years. He loved all kinds of sports, riding his lawnmower, traveling and working in his yard. A charter member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, Mr. Rogers served as a deacon for many years and was involved everyday in building the Life Center there.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children: Dennis C. Rogers and Davis Janet Rogers, both of Franklin; grandchildren: Marigrace Rogers, Taylor Rogers and Holly Rogers, all of Franklin; step children: Gary Higgs of Tullahoma, Darrell Nancy Higgs of Columbia, Randal Kathie Higgs of Franklin; step daughter-in-law: Marcia Higgs of Memphis; step grandchildren: Ashlea Higgs, Austin Higgs, Stephanie Higgs, Adam Higgs, Cody Higgs, Dawson Higgs, Katie Higgs, Kayla Higgs, and Brianna Higgs. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Leonard Rogers, Wesley Rogers and Malcolm Rogers; 2 sisters: Louise Downs and Virginia Doocey; step son: Kevin Higgs.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Benefield, Gary Higgs, Tom Kelley, Charles Garner, Virgil Lewis, Eddie Ables, Farrell Long and Randal Higgs.
