Mr. Wilbert Choate, Sr. was born September 17, 1923, son of the late William Robert and Elizabeth Coleman Choate and was the husband of the late Jewell Choate. He was a very proud World War II veteran, in which he was honorably discharged October 29, 1945. Mr. Choate passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 at NHC Lawrenceburg.
In addition to serving our country, he had been employed by Stauffer Chemical, the Saturn Plant and he later retired from Industrial Contractors in 1988.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Ray Boyd officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
Mr. Choate is survived by a daughter: Emiley Shea Edgewood of Smyrna; two sons: Warren Wanda Choate of Bon Aqua and Wilbert Choate, Jr. of Centerville; grandchildren: Greg Choate, Tina Choate, Dewayne Choate, Dana Carver, Tabitha Jones, Ryan Horne, Jereme Choate; two brothers: Shelton Skeet Choate and Leon Choate; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grand child.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Wendell Darrell Choate; a grandson: Don Choate; a granddaughter: Monica Head; a brother: Walton Choate; two sisters: Mildred Walker and Gertie June Jones.
Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family with their services.
