Wendy Beth Chance

Wendy Beth Tillery Chance, age 42, passed away on Monday, March 9, at her residence on Cayce Valley Drive.
Funeral services for Wendy will be conducted Thursday at 4:00 P.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating and Rev. Brantley Tillery offering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 3:00 – 9:00 P.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church and from 1:00 P.M. until time of services on Thursday at the church.
Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
The Bessemer, AL native was the daughter of Lamar and Linda Couch Tillery of Columbia. She was the wife of Robert Timothy "Tim" Chance of Columbia whom she married in 1991. Wendy was a 1984 graduate of Cornersville High School, where she was a cheerleader and played on the girls' basketball team. She was also a 1986 graduate of Columbia State Community College and a 1988 graduate of U.T. Knoxville. She received her Master's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1994. She was an educator with the Maury County School System for 20 years and was currently a Guidance Counselor at Whitthorne Middle School. Wendy was a devoted mother and very involved in the lives and activities of her children. She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Cornersville and was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Survivors in addition to her husband and parents include her children: Anna Kate Chance, Jackson Davis "Jack" Chance, and Emma Caroline Chance, all of Columbia, and Lennon Haystings "Hays" Chance of Jackson, Miss.; one brother: Brantley Cydni Tillery of Tulsa, Okla., and one sister: Kathy Scott Leonard of Chapel Hill; her in-laws: Bobby R. and Ruth Chance of Columbia; nieces and nephews: Brittany Dane Hargrove, Dane Leonard, Blake Leonard, Sayre Tillery, Sutherlin Tillery, and a great-niece: Cait Hargrove; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: S.W. and Iola Tillery and Buck and Kathleen Couch.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Bone, Michael Davis, Joe Horne, Jeff Rich and Scott Walls. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wayne Bone Sunday School Class and members of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, faculty and staff of Central High School, Whitthorne Middle School and E.A. Cox Middle School, and The Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Companies and physicians and staff of the Columbia Oncology Group.
The family would like extend their appreciation to the Hospice of the Highland Rim.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Wendy Chance Memorial Fund for the Children, c/o First Farmers and Merchants Bank, P.O. Box 1148, Columbia, TN 38402-1148 or the Maury County Animal Shelter Association, P.O. Box 1623, Columbia, TN 38402-1623.
