Warren “Pop” Casey Cook, age 81, of Columbia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his residence on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
Warren was born on April 10, 1936, in Giles County, Tennessee to Thomas Harvey Cook and Maxie Adams Cook. He was the loving husband of Kay Brooks Cook, having married her on June 9, 1959. He was a boiler operator having retired from Maury Regional Medical Center in the hospital maintenance department. He was a member of Collegevue Church of Christ. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He was especially adored by all of his grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally. He could fix anything that was broken and loved tinkering with anything with a motor – from clocks to cars. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycling and working in the yard.
Warren is survived by his loving wife: Kay Cook; children: Michael Wayne Cook of Culleoka, Connie Melissa Barnhart of Columbia and Warren Christopher (Leigh) Cook of Chapel Hill; grandchildren: Kendall Leigh (David) Boyett, Kala (Brian) McClendon, Michael Tyler Barnhart, Ryan Casey Barnhart, Amber LeeAnn Cook and Elizabeth Morgan Cook; and great-grandson: Triston Michael Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: James Cook, Rowena Gilliam and William Cook.
Funeral services for Mr. Cook will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Greg Gwin officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are past and present members of Collegevue Church of Christ and the staff at Maury Regional Medical Center.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Collegevue Church of Christ, 1618 Hampshire Pike, Columbia, Tennessee 38401.
