Walter M. Coble

Lt. Col. Walter M. Coble, ret. a resident of Linden, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, April 24, at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Coble will be conducted on Friday at 10:00 A.M. at the Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow in the Williamsport Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends from 7:00 ?9:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 4:00 ? 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

The Pulaski native was the son of the late Woodrow and Mary Helen Harwell Coble. He was the husband of 47 years of the late Dewyria Shirley Hendrix Coble who preceded him in death on December 1, 2001, who also served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Lt. Col. after 24 years of service. He was also retired from the Maury Co. School System Alternative School. He served for 10 years as pastor of the Williamsport Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Civitan Club.

Survivors include his children, Cynthia Denise David Johnson of Omaha, NE, Lesa David Highfield of Columbia, Glenda Eric Jones of Newnan, GA, Walter Mylen Helen Coble, Jr. of Williamsport, Dwayne Alexander Jennifer Coble of Columbia, Scott Charles Coble of Nashville, Eric Marshall Amy Coble of Mt. Pleasant and Jill Barry Brooks of Hampshire; daughter-in-law: Jana Coble of Hampshire; 20 grandchildren, David Johnson, II, Luke Ashley Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Candace Highfield, Beau Highfield, Elaura Highfield, Monica Parsons, Keenan Parsons, Katelyn Coble, Hope Coble, Emily Coble, Alex ?Bubba? Coble, Nathan Coble, Seth Coble, Caleb Coble, Victoria Saige Coble and Ashleia Elizabeth Dewyria Coble, Colleen Brooks, Madelyne Brooks and Coble Brooks, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; two sisters: Peggy Clifton of Antioch, TN, and Nancy Owens of Pulaski, TN; two brothers: Alton Coble of Pulaski, TN and Ray Coble of Meredianville, AL.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be O.C.S. class of 59c.
