Walter J. Beasley

Mr. Walter J. Beasley, age 85, a resident of Driftwood Lane in Lobelville and a longtime resident of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, June 6, at Perry County Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Beasley will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating.

The family will visit with friends Wednesday 12 Noon to service time at the funeral home.

Born on October 30, 1923 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Ida Key Beasley. He was the owner of Beasley & Beasley Construction, with his son Gary, for 33 years. Mr. Beasley retired in 1991 to the TN River in Lobelville, he loved to watch boats run up and down the river. Mr. Beasley was a very honest man, enjoyed target practice, liked to make gun stocks and flying planes at Hunter Air Field in Columbia.

He is survived by his children: Walter Ricky Stacey Beasley of Monroe, GA, Gary W. Shelia Beasley of Columbia, Judy K. Kenny Grigg of Yuma, AZ and Richard W. Beasley of Columbia; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a sister: Dean Wilford Lavender of Sunbright, TN; nephew: Freddie Bishop of Sunbright, TN. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Carolyn G. King and a sister: Leta Bishop.

Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Watson, Jim Lucas, Bobby Roberts, Ray Bates, Jim Floyd, Freddie Bishop and the friends at Kelsey s Market in Lobelville.
