Walter D. “Buck” Paul, age 83, of Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at NHC Columbia.
Buck was born to the late Wallace Paul and Ruth Robinette on April 21, 1931 in Columbia, Tennessee. Buck was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. He married Mable Roberson in 1949 and they were married for 58 years before she passed in 2008. In June 2010, Buck married Dorothy Stephens. Buck served many years as a Southern Baptist minister. He retired from Union Carbide. Buck was well known in the Southern Gospel Music arena for over 70 years; he sang with the Paul Quartet. Buck most recently attended Mooresville Pike Baptist Church.
The family will visit with friends on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm prior to the service at 3:00 pm to celebrate Buck’s life in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. W.L. Wallace and Bro. Ezell Rose will officiate. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Buck is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Paul; daughters Debbie (Joe) Pipkin, Gaye (Donny) Lovell, Pilar (Jerry) Candler, and Missy (Dan) Williams all of Columbia; step-daughters Elaine (Bill) Wells of Columbia and Phyllis (Kenneth) Clark of Chapel Hill; step-son Johnnie Stephens (fiancée Ava Sneed) of Chapel Hill; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Buck is preceded in death by his parents Wallace Paul and Ruth Paul and his first wife and mother of his children Mable Roberson Paul.
Pallbearers will be Todd Westmoreland, Griffin Twilla, Jason Lovell, Chris Sharp, Mike Basnaw, Jake Sykes, and Ethan Myers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Paul, Jim Paul, Wayne Arrington, Calvin Lunn, Jimmy Fitzgerald, Dan Roberson, and Larry Tomlin.
