Wallace Childress Mayberry, Jr.

November 12, 1921 — February 13, 2004

Mr. Wallace Childress ?Buddy? Mayberry, Jr., 82, a resident of Sunnymeade Drive, died Friday, February 13, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Mayberry will be conducted Sunday, February 15, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Wendell Robinson and Andy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late, Wallace Childress, Sr.. and Katherine McMeen Mayberry. He was the husband of 56 years to Mrs. Opal V. Thigpen Mayberry. He attended McDowell School before entering the United States Army. He was in the 227 Antiaircraft Artillery Searchlight Battallion during World War II. He was a plumber and pipefitter for Buchi Heating and Plumbing of Nashville and was a former employee at Stauffer Chemical in Mt. Pleasant for many years. He was a member of Union Local #572 in which he was affiliated with various plants Middle Tennessee. He was of member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19 and a member of Graymere Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Donald C. Linda Mayberry of Smyrna, TN and Suzanne M. Carlton Scott of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Stacey M. Rob Huey of Lewisburg, TN, Lorie Mayberry of Brentwood, TN, Jessica Scott and Hunter Scott of Columbia, TN; one great-grandchild, Alex Huey of Lewisburg, TN; two sisters, Dot Roberts of Lewisburg, TN and Mrs. J.E. Frances Davis of Columbia, TN.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tomab Mayberry of Columbia, TN and a sister, Mildred Hutcherson of Columbia, TN.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Walters, Mike Frakes, Daniel Goad, Danny Poland, Gary Poland, and Tommy Ray Mayberry.

Honorary pallbearers will be past and present TLC Caregivers of Centerville, TN, friends at Graymere Church of Christ, members of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local # 572, co-workers; James Davenport, Frank Buchanan, Bob White, Jack Curtis, and Bob Curtis.

Memorials may be made to Meals-on-wheels program at Graymere Church of Christ 1320 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401
