Virginia Witherspoon Gibson

October 13, 1921 — September 1, 2003

Mrs. Virginia Witherspoon Gibson, 81, a resident of Clarksville and formerly of 7th Avenue in Columbia , died Monday, September 1, 2003 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

A memorial service for Mrs. Gibson will be conducted Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Dr. Vincent Walkup officiating. Inurnment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until service at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Georgia Kraus Witherspoon. She was the widow of William Lawrence Gibson who died in 2000. She was a homemaker, doll collector, and member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Johnny Potts of Mt. Juliet, TN; a granddaughter, Lindley Potts of Old Hickory, TN; a sister, Nancy Thompson of Columbia, TN; two nieces, Rosemarie T. Smalley and Jan T. Binkley both of Columbia, TN; four great nephews, James Brent Smalley, Justin Rhodes Smalley, Adam Bay Binkley, and Eric Haze Binkley. She was preceded in death by a son, William Ronald Gibson; three brothers, Paul S. Witherspoon, Robert K. Witherspoon, and Kenneth F. "Toots" Witherspoon.
