Mrs. Virginia A. Moore

Mrs. Virginia A. Moore, age 88, formerly of Poplar Estates, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Mrs. Moore was born August 25, 1924 in South Charleston, WV the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur Hickman and Edna Ethel Dailey Hickman. On November 23, 1945, she married Robert L. Moore and he preceded her in death on August 18, 2003. During WW II, Virginia worked as a welder at the Norfolk Naval Yard and over the years shared many stories with her children and grandchildren of that period of her life. Mrs. Virginia loved music, spending time with her grandchildren and cooking for her family. During her residency at Poplar Estates, she enjoyed the visits from member of the Craft Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her children, Robert Moore of Columbia and Laura Kiser of Nashville; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in The Arbors Pavilion at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating with burial to follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the MICU at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
