Virginia Alston Osborne Mcclendon

Virginia Alston Osborne McClendon, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Sycamore Terrace Retirement Home.

Virginia was born on May 4, 1923 in Marshall County, Tennessee to the late Grover Allen Osborne and Virginia Hayes Osborne. She was a lifelong resident of Donelson. Virginia graduated from Central High School in Nashville. She attended Andrew Price Memorial Methodist Church in Donelson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Home Demonstration Club. Virginia loved gardening, birds, antiques, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will always be loved and greatly missed. One of her care takers stated “I will definitely miss her because she was definitely rare, but loved.” Virginia was a member of Andrew Prince Memorial Methodist Church in Donelson, Tennessee.

The family will celebrate Virginia’s life with a private graveside service on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Joe Beavon officiating.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Daniel G. McClendon Jr, father Grover Allen Osborne, mother Virginia Hayes Osborne, and sister Georgia Elizabeth Osborne.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Sherrie (Joe) M. Tipton of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; son Daniel G. (Jodi) McClendon III of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren Joseph B. (Loraine) Tipton of Nashville, Tennessee, Justin Daniel (Lauren) Tipton of Franklin, Tennessee, Madison E. and R. Parker McClendon of Flower Mound, Texas; great-grandchildren Hudson D. Tipton, Joseph B. Tipton, and Hunter H. Tipton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice or Willow Brook Hospice.
