Virginia Gladys Barber

Mrs. Virginia Gladys Barber, age 87, a resident of W. Merchant Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday morning at her residence.

Funerals services for Mrs. Barber will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Dwight Liles officiating. Burial will follow in the Deerfield Baptist Cemetery in Lawrence County.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born on September 16, 1922 in Cullman Co., AL, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Eugene Methvin and Virgie Mable Moore Methvin. Virginia was first married to the late William Edward Threet, Sr. and later to the late Carroll Barber. She was a homemaker and sat with the elderly. Virginia had worked in the automotive industry and was a dog groomer and breeder and loved gardening and singing. She was a member of the Haley's Chapel Methodist Church in Hohenwald.

Survivors include her children: Audrey Clark of Mt. Pleasant, Larry Threet of Mt. Pleasant, James Threet of Coldwater, MI, Melvin Threet of Nashville, Michael Threet of Cookeville, Terry Mangrum of Mt. Pleasant and Jamie Threet of Lynnville; 23 grandchildren including those in this area: Julia L. Rutledge, Jacqueline M. Clark, Jeffrey A. Rogers, Jennifer Beck, Devin Brooks, Christopher Lindsey, Janice Threet and Autumn Threet; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Avis Methvin of MI, Rayford Methvin of NC and Athel Methvin of OH. She was preceded in death by children: William Edward Threet, Jr., Janice Mable Threet and Douglas Steven Threet; 1 grandchild: Larry Eugene Threet, Jr., and one brother: Thomas Edward Methvin.

Pallbearers will be Jason Beck, Roy Brooks, Christopher Jackson, Jeffrey Rogers and Christopher Lindsey.
