Vernon Hedman

December 26, 1926 — October 12, 2007

Mr. Vernon ?Boomer? Hedman, age 80, a resident of Thomas Circle in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, October 12, in Summertown.

Funeral services for Mr. Hedman will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Jim Maddox officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The family will visit with friends on Monday from 4:00 ? 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Newton, IA native was the son of the late W.A. Hedman and Lois Lease Hedman. He was the husband of Marie Black Hedman. He served in the United States Marines Corps during World War II and served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Hedman was a retired foreman with Columbia Construction and a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and VFW. He was a member of Straightway Christian Center.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Donna Chunn of Mt. Pleasant, Cindy Dean Shore of Columbia, Mike Pam Gladson of Grandberry, TX and Johnny Carlene Gladsonof Hawaii; grandchildren: Cory Dedmon, Derek Dedmon, Courtney Dedmon, Heather Dawn Shore, Eric Heather Kay Shore, Erica Gladson, Joseph Gladson, Joseph Gladson, Zack Pratt, Austin Shuler and Alex Potter; one great-grandchild: Naomi Gladson; two sister ?in-laws, Judy Donnie Grimes and Pam Billy Lovett both of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Martha Larry Kline and one nephew, Andrew Kline, son-in-law, Joe l. Chunn.

Pallbearers will be Eric Shore, Jason Andrews, Glenn Brown, Michael Blake Hardison, Cory Dedmon, Robbie Lovett and Randy Bratton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Co-workers of Columbia Construction, Dr. Charles Ball, Dr. Kelley Williams and members of Straightway Christian Church.
