Mr. Vernard James "Jim" Kizer, age 80, a resident of Williamsport Pike in Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Graveside inurnment services will be conducted Friday at 2 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steve Swango and Rev. Joe Bowers officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 5:00 8:00 P.M at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
The Sioux Falls, SD, native was the son of the late Virgil A. Kizer and Pernina Pearl Hird. He was a graduate of Scotland High School in Scotland, SD and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was the husband of Grace Athon Kizer of Williamsport. Mr. Kizer was retired from the maintenance department of Triangle Auto Springs and had worked for 22 years in the Cadillac division in Detroit; MI. Jim loved to fish, hunt pheasant and watching Notre Dame football. His special hobby was picking at his grandkids.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children: Kevin Becky Kizer of Culleoka and Karen Kevin Barnes of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Kristen Paul Earnest of Lebanon, Kelly Kizer and Kayla Kizer, both of Culleoka and Bobby Evan Barnes of Santa Fe; one great-grandson: James Robert Earnest of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Donald, Courtney, Bernard and Virgil.
