Vera Louise Thigpen of Columbia, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Thigpen was the daughter of the late Alva and Ava Buie Tripp and was born in Henryville, Tennessee. She was married to her husband, Lawton Thigpen on April 20, 1947 and he passed away on January 4, 2004. Vera was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Columbia for 52 years. She was a retiree of General Electric.
Mrs. Thigpen is survived by her children: Pat (Don) Elsea and Jim (Deborah) Thigpen; grandchildren: Meggen (Jason) Crockarell and Preston Elsea; great-grandchildren: Everett Dale Golden, Shea Louise Crockerell and Alex Crockerell; sister: Wynell Hood brother: Howard Tripp sister-in-law: Geneva Golden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thigpen will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, May 22 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Jerry Fly, Tony Hardison, Ricky Patterson, Austin Perry, Corey Hood and Albert Wade will serve as pallbearers. Dr. John Freels, Math Russell and Loyd Hood will serve as honorary pallbearers.
