Vance Lee Potts, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Poplar Estates Senior Living in Columbia, Tennessee, where he had resided for nearly 5 years. He was the son of the late Hardy Allen Potts and Etta Mae Kelley Potts.
Vance was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Hohenwald, TN where he formerly lived. He retired from Wright and Lopez Construction Company with over 44 years of service. He really enjoyed going fishing and was very good at frying catfish for family get-togethers and Senior Citizen Events.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Dorothy Barnes Potts; son: Jerry Lee Potts; brothers: Addis, Vester, Carl, Cleve, and Dallas Potts; sisters: Jewell Valentine and Louise McKee.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Hayden Potts, Brent (Kristen) Potts, Jennifer Potts, Jessica (Jonathan) Hickerson, Joe (Dana) Woodard, Jamie Burns, and Laura (Neyland) Barber, and several great-grandchildren;daughter in law: Vickie Potts Turnbow; sister: Allene Lovell; brother-in-law: Bobby (Sylvia) Barnes; sister-in-law: Mora Potts and Glenda Potts, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with special friend, Lee Rogers.
The family will receive friends and visitors on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. To follow, Vance will be laid to rest at West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Columbia, TN.
Those honored as pallbearers are Brent Potts, Mike Potts, Jeff Lovell, Richard McKee, Wendell Potts, and Jonathan Hickerson. Honorary pallbearers are men of the New Hope Baptist Church, Hayden Potts, Randy Potts, David Potts, Tony Potts, Phillip Potts, and Kenneth Potts, and former employees of Wright and Lopez.
