Mr. Tommie Lewis Hickman, age 85, resident of Old King Hollow Road in the Mt. Joy community, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Hidden Acres Nursing Home.
Born December 3, 1925 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Fanie Creamer Hickman. He was the husband of Myrtle Rudell Hickman of the Mt. Joy Community. They were married on February 4, 1949. He was a veteran, having served in World War II. Tommie was a retired supervisor with Staffered Corp. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Mason Lodge having 32 degree Scottish rites, was also a member of the Shriner?s of North America and Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two, sons, David Hickman of Alexandria, TN and Travis Diana Hickman of Woodbury, TN.; grandchildren, Lori, Evan, Sarah and Katie; great-grandchildren, Julia, Leah and Layne. In addition to his parents, Tommie was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Keuning, three sisters, Eloise Powell, Maudie Norman, Dasie Norman, three brothers, Raymond Hickman, J.C. Hickman, Gilbert ?Billy Joe? Hickman, three half-sisters, Edna Gable, Lucy Sornsen, Margaret Graven and three half-brothers, Ernest Crews, Olean Crews and Howard Hickman.
Funeral services for Mr. Hickman will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 25, 2011 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jeff Durham and Rev. Dwight Liles. Interment will follow at the Barnsville Cemetery with military honors being provided by the United States Navy.
The Hickman Family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. ? 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be George Davis, Michael Simmons, William Rail, Hobert Gilliam and Theodore Durham. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Crews, Wallace Chapman and Employee?s of Stauffer Chemical and Zenaca Chemical.
