Tommasa Pizzo

August 16, 1938 — December 23, 2024

Columbia

Tommasa Pizzo, a cherished matriarch, passed away on December 23, 2024, at NHC-Maury Transitional Care in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on August 16, 1938, in the picturesque island of Sicily, Italy, Tommasa was a daughter of the late Vincenzo Turriciano and Angela DiBartolo Turriciano.

Tommasa was the heart and soul of her family, often described as the glue that held them together. Her warmth and kindness knew no bounds; she was always the first to offer a helping hand to family, friends, and even strangers in need. With a personality that radiated loyalty and compassion, she embraced traditional values that shaped her life and those of her loved ones. Her sense of humor and infectious laughter brought joy to every gathering, making her an enduring source of light and comfort. A deeply religious woman, Tommasa found strength in her faith, which guided her principles and actions throughout her life. Her devotion not only enriched her own spirit but also inspired her family and friends, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Tommasa’s exceptional culinary skills made her a beloved figure in her family.

She delighted in cooking hearty Italian meals that brought everyone together, especially her renowned meatballs and chicken cutlets. The aroma of her kitchen was a warm embrace that welcomed many. Furthermore, she took immense joy in baking with her grandchildren, creating delicious Italian cookies that were loved by all. These culinary traditions will continue to be passed down through generations, keeping her spirit alive in every family gathering.

In her passing, Tommasa joins her beloved husband of 62 years, Giuseppe Pizzo, who she missed dearly. She is also reunited with her loving parents and her grandson Javier Noriega.

While her physical presence will be greatly missed, her legacy is embodied in her devoted children: Anna Noriega, Sarafina Pizzo, Sebastiano Pizzo, and Vincenzo Pizzo. Additionally, she is survived by her cherished siblings: Lina Ancona, Maria Milazzo, Liborio Turriciano, Josephine Strowger, and Vito Turriciano. Tommasa's family extends further with 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, all of whom carry forward her values and love. Tommasa Pizzo’s legacy of love, strength, and family will forever echo in the hearts and memories of those who were fortunate to know her. She leaves an indelible mark that will continue to inspire and nurture her family for generations to come.
