Tom Cleveland May, age 77, passed away Sunday, May 30th, 2021 in his home in Columbia, Tennessee. Tom was born on June 25th, 1943 to the late Tom Clifford and Susie Mae Hasting May in Pulaski, Tennessee.
Tom lived life to the fullest and enjoyed the nice things that life has to offer. He flew with the idea of starting his own business one day and achieved just that by opening the doors of The Jeweler’s Bench nearly 40 years ago. Causing so much foot traffic, he got to know many members of his community and made lifelong friends. The saying goes “He never met a stranger”, Tom truly never met a stranger. He was a kindhearted man that cared for others. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 4th, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. A funeral service for Tom will be held on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with Randy McNeese officiating. Burial will follow at Spencer Hill Cemetery.
Tom is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sheila May; stepfather: James E. Shelton; sisters: Caroline Burton, Peggy Holley, and Phyllis Holt.
Tom is survived by his children: Steve May of Louden, TN and Randy (Missy) May of Knoxville, TN; eight grandchildren; brother: Bubba Shelton; several nieces and nephews; and very special close friends: Butch Smith, Rick Violet, and Bill T.; and several others.
