Tina Kay Hooten

July 31, 1959 — August 18, 2013

Tina Kay Mitchell Hooten, 54 of Columbia, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 18, 2013.

Tina was born in West Lafayette, Indiana to Tommy J. Mitchell, Sr. and the late Mary Ann Thomas Mitchell. She was a member of New Life Church in Columbia. Tina spent her work hours as a CNA at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. She was also a driver for the Maury County Senior Citizens van in which she became close friends with many of the seniors. She loved her job and felt completely in her element when she was with them. She made sure they felt that their lives did have meaning. Tina was full of life with a great sense of humor who loved to have fun. When her children spoke about memories with her, they said that every memory was a good one. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Tina loved helping her children and sacrificed all for her family. She loved animals, especially her dog, Little Buddy. Tina also enjoyed planting flowers.

Funeral services for Tina Kay Hooten will be Thursday, August 22, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Darryl Martin officiating. Burial will follow the service in Polk Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, 5:00-9:00 p.m. and also Thursday prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tina’s survivors include: two daughters, April (Bryon Hedges) Winters and Heather Hooten; four grandchildren, Brittney Nicole and Savannah Kay Winters, Brooklynn Grace Hedges, and Brayden Cole Hollis, also with another grandchild on the way; two brothers, Tommy (Janet Hendrix) Mitchell, Jr. and Kent Mitchell; father and step-mother, Tommy (Maxine) Mitchell; mama, Wyonia Miller; and special friend, Shirley Spears. Tina was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Thomas, and sister, Valerie Arlene Bullion.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Jason Gray, Bryon Hedges, Moses Silva, Carlton Haywood, Johnny Love, and Tim Fortune. Honorary pallbearers include: Troy and Alan Dodson, past and present employees of Morning Pointe, and past employees of Maury County Senior Citizens.
