Thomas "Tommy" Robinson

February 5, 1940 — February 24, 2012

Thomas "Tommy" Robinson was born February 5, 1940 in Maury County to the late Ernest and Susie Webb Robinson. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Rush Robinson.

Tommy was a 1958 graduate of Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant. He had retired from Greyhound Bus Lines. Tommy was an avid baseball fan and spent much of his free time as a Little League Umpire and after baseball season was over, he refereed high school football games. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church. He was lovingly called "Pa" by all of his grandchildren and their friends.

Survivors include his children, Anita Roger White of Columbia and Ken Misty Robinson of Mt. Juliet; his beloved grandchildren, Kirby White of Columbia, Amber Gregory of Mt. Juliet, Andrew White and Robin White, also of Columbia; two sisters, Mary Neil David Wise of Columbia and Frances Dick McKnight of Williamsburg, VA; sister-in-law, Bobbye Robinson of Columbia and brother-in-law, Col. J.P. Brown of Chattanooga along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Tommy was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Brown and one brother, Howard Robinson.

Funeral services for Tommy will be conducted Monday at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Gary Wedgewood and Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Walt Robinson, Brad Hopkins, Dale White, Charles Sanders, David Sanders and Jeff Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1958 Hay Long High School graduating class and special friends, Darlene Blade, Jeweldean Brown, Kathy White, Shannon Buchanan and Sara and Will Buchanan.
