Thomas "Tom" Ralph Whitler

Mr. Thomas “Tom” Ralph Whitler, age 72 of Ethridge, passed away on December 23, 2014.
Tom was the son of Eugene Whitler and Mary Stora Whitler and born on August 16, 1942 in Carlinville, Illinois. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Vietnam ERA. On December 22, 1999 he married Linda and they had a wonderful life together.
Throughout his life, Tom was a wonderful father not only to his own children, but also to over forty children that he cared for as a foster dad. He was a godly and God-fearing man. He was a hard worker, who had retired from AMSEC Corp. out of San Diego, California as an electrician. He had traveled to many countries during his lifetime working in his field of trade.
Tom is survived by his loving wife: Linda Whitler of Ethridge; children: Thomas Whitler, Dennis (Marlene) Whitler and Lorraine Bacek all of California, Toni Vazquez of Ethridge, Lily Whitler of Lawrenceburg and Maci Whitler of Columbia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings: Peggy Whitler of Illinois, Joe (Reita) Whitler of Alaska and Mike Whitler of Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents: Eugene and Mary Whitler and his brother: Eugene Whitler.
The family will celebrate Tom’s life with a memorial service on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at United Church in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee with Pastor David Morgan officiating. Later, in accordance with Tom’s final wishes, his cremated remains will be scattered over the waters surrounding Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to United Church Missions at 716 S. Locust, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464.
