Thomas Merle Brown, Sr.

July 4, 1948 — November 8, 2007

Mr. Thomas Merle Brown, Sr., 59, a resident of Esque Sharp Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, November 8, at his home.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be conducted on Monday at 2:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bishop G. Wayne Proffitt, Bishop Jay Croyle Rev. Ron Roudebush and Rev. Gary Clements officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 - 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Born in Karns City, PA, he was the son of Catherine Corbett Brown and the late Merle J. and husband of Lynda Garner Brown. He was an alumnus of Karns City High School. Mr. Brown worked on a farm as a teen in New Bethlehem, PA and then for C.A. Garner in Hillards, PA. From there he worked for Kerfalas Paint n Butler, PA, George Toth Trucking in Hillards, PA, Hankey Construction in Eau Clare, PA, Hunters Truck Sales, a welder for TI Brook Inc, in Cherry Valley, PA. He then moved to Virginia and worked as a heavy duty truck mechanic at Central Motors in Springfield, VA, Southland Distributors in Fredericksburg, Ryder Truck Rentals and Heflens Garage. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Virginia, on the board of directors, Sunday school superintendent, Usher and maintenance. He was currently a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Columbia.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Thomas M. Tina Brown, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Caitlin Brown, Hunter Brown, Trevor Brown, Brandi Brown, Toby Brown and Trent Brown, all of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Kathy Dorr of Chicora, PA and Barbara Smith of Karns City, PA; seven brothers, William Brown of Phoenix, AZ, Robert Brown of Corsica, PA, Kenneth Brown of Chicora, PA David Brown of West Lawn, PA and Frank Brown, Dennis Brown, Steve Brown, all of Culpepper, VA. He was preceded in death by a son, Albert Garner Brown.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Church of God of Prophecy in Columbia.
