Thomas (Tom) Wayne Blankenship, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on Monday July 7, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Tom was born in Pulaski, Tennessee to the late John M. Blankenship and Eula Watson Blankenship on June 29, 1942. Tom worked for many years in sales at Massey Ferguson and retired in sales from Kuhn North America. Tom was a current city commissioner of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. He was an active member of the Mt. Pleasant Community Development Corporation and Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. with Rich Hargrove officiating at the Chapel in Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, Tennessee.
Tom is survived by his wife Delores Schneider Duke Blankenship; his daughters Christy (William) Patch and Susan (Jackie) Stevens both of Bethpage, Tennessee. Step-son Matt (Christie) Duke of Prospect, Tennessee; step-daughter Marcy (Jeff) Vanlandingham of Chattanooga, Tennessee; son-in-law Neil (Leigh Ann Johnson) Mooney; granddaughters Bethany Patch, Megan Patch, Lauren Patch, Sarah Stevens, Nola Mooney, Tallulah Mooney, and Chloe Broussard; grandsons Nathan Stevens, Tucker Duke, Hayden Duke, Ian Johnson, and Asa Johnson; mother of daughters (Christy and Susan) Margaret Blankenship; brothers John (Annette) Blankenship and Keith (Christie) Blankenship; sisters Emily (Glenn) Hargrove and Rita Blankenship.
Tom is preceded in death by his step-daughter Melissa Duke Mooney.
Pallbearers will be Brad Jernigan, Matt Duke, Matt Hargrove, Trevor Brewer, Sam Schneider, and Jeff Vanlandingham.
