Mr. Thomas Adron Skelley, age 89, a resident of Gaskill Branch Road in Santa Fe, passed away on Tuesday in Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Skelley will be conducted on Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Joe Maples officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 2:00 ? 9:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia and after 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Thomas Grady Skelley and Elizabeth Kinzer Skelley. He was the husband of Barbara Ann Travis Skelley of Santa Fe. He was an Army Veteran of WW II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster. He was retired from Union Carbide as a pin finisher and was a farmer. He and his wife were avid fishermen. In his early years, Mr. Skelley was a member of the Knob Creek Baptist Church and later joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children: Dottie Dewey Brady of Santa Fe, Tommy Rita Skelley of Columbia, Kay Jimmy Massey of Santa Fe, Cathey David Ferguson of Santa Fe, Norris Aline Skelley of Cookeville, Dawn Steven Sowell of Santa Fe and Nancy Lester Finley of Columbia; grandchildren: Crystal LeMay of Columbia, Daniel Brady of Santa Fe, Jennifer Stewart of Columbia, April Johnson of Columbia, Joel Skelley of Spring Hill, Kyle Skelley of Nashville, Travis Massey of Columbia, Brad Massey of Santa Fe, Beth Ring of Columbia, Andy Ferguson of Bethesda, Richard Ferguson of Mt. Pleasant, Gregory Ferguson of Summertown, John Ferguson of Santa Fe, Brad Woods of Maryville, Tiffany Hargis of Calhoun, GA, Mallori Scott and Dayton Scott, both of Santa Fe, Holly Adams of Columbia, Cody Sowell of Santa Fe, Brandon Finley of Lynnville, Caitlin Finley of Columbia and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother: William Richard Skelley and four sisters: Mamie Arlene Wells, Edna Elizabeth Skillington and infant twins Flora and Lora Skelley.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Horace Glenn, Jimmy Sowell, Clyde Skelley and the staff of the ICU at Maury Regional Hospital.
Memorials may be made to the Santa Fe School Library, Randolph Howell Library or the Eastside Church of Christ Building Fund.
