Mrs. Thelma Barnes age 81, born December 10, 1930, died July 7, 2012 at Life care Center of Columbia. She was a former resident of Dalton Avenue.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday July 10, 2012 at 10 AM at the Arbors at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Pat Fife and Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetary. The family will visit with friends from 4 PM to 8 PM Monday at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

The Maury County native was the daughter of Odie Lee and Lula Chumley Rummage. She was married for 61 years to James Edward Barnes, who preceded her in death April 10, 2008. Mrs. Barnes was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by two daughters: Linda Rabon Dodson and Debra Wiseman, sister: Clara Harvey, twin brother: Elmer Charlotte Rummage, two brothers in law: Charles Lollie Barnes and Bobby Sylvia Barnes, sisters in law: Margaret Brady, Hazel Adair, Dot Vance Potts, and Minnie Barnes, grandchildren: Gena Robert Caldiraro, Missy David Phillips, Jamie Corey Williams, James Jennifer Wiseman, Cheryl Tim Thurman, Greg Dodson. She leaves 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to whom she was Aunt Sis.

Along with her husband James, she was preceded in death by her son Mitchell O. Barnes, who passed May 30, 1971 while serving his country in Vietnam. She is also preceded by her son in law Charles Buddy Wiseman, sisters: Mary Gilliam, Virginia Potts, Ann Worley, brothers: Melvin Rummage, Roy Rummage.

Pallbearers for the service will be the grandsons, James Wiseman, Robert Caldiraro, David Phillips, Corey Williams, Greg Dodson, Tim Thurman, Chuck Vaughn, and Cortland Phillips.

Honorary pallbearers are The Maury County Veterans of Vietnam War and the members of Mt. Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Life Care, Poplar Estates, and Dr. Stephen Simmons and staff for your loving care of our mother and your kindness to us.
