Thelma Grooms Floyd, age 83, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Thelma was born on October 22, 1933 in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Bill and Nora Grooms. She was married to Ray Floyd until his passing in 2013. Thelma was employed by Maury County Schools, she drove buses number 7 and number 52 for over 40 years. Thelma loved to spend time cooking and fishing. She was a longtime member of Porters Chapel Methodist Church.
Mrs. Floyd is survived by her son: Mike Floyd, of Columbia; grandchildren: Amy (Albert) Rich, Holly (Neil) Walker and Casey Floyd; great grandchildren: Grace (Michael) Neblett, Ryder Floyd, Ali Walker and Paul Thomas Walker; great great granddaughter: Amelia Neblett as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Bill and Nora Grooms; husband: Ray Floyd and daughter: Shirley Floyd Norman.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Rev. Bobby Gobble officiating.
Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Floyd will be Casey Floyd, Albert Rich, Ronnie Wiseman, William Massey, Bobby Floyd, Neil Walker and Michael Neblett. Honorary pallbearers are members of Porters Chapel Church, Employees of Floyd and Floyd Contractors, Maury County Schools bus drivers and Donnie Dye.
