Terry Dwayne Thompson

Terry Dwayne Thompson, age 68, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at his residence.

Terry was born on June 9, 1947 in Lawrence County to the late Otis Thompson and Ivanell Thompson. Terry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married Sheila Chappell on January 5, 2000. He attended Columbia State and Memphis State. Terry worked for many years in insurance sales. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church of Columbia. Terry loved sports of all kinds, but he was an avid golfer. He was the definition of a “sportsman.”

Terry is survived by his loving wife Shelia Thompson of Columbia; mother Ivanell Thompson of Columbia; step-daughter Jennifer (Nabil) Kalifa of Nashville; brother Ronnie Thompson of Waynesboro; step-granddaughters Zaynab Kalifa of Nashville and Ahlia Kalifa of Nashville; and mother-in-law Rachel Parker of Columbia.

Terry was preceded in death by his father Otis Thompson and father-in-law William “Rooster” Chappell.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Terry will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Craft Memorial United Methodist Church.
