Sylvia Rose Graham

Mrs. Sylvia Rose Graham, age 63, resident of N. James Campbell Blvd. passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Life Care Center.
Funeral services for Rose will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Richard Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born on May 12, 1946 in Maury Co., she was the daughter of the late William Bishop and Rosetta Potts Bishop. Rose was a loving mother and grandmother who had such a great big heart that she was a special friend of all who knew her. She was of the Christian faith.
Rose was the victim of an accident involving a drunk driver 19 years ago which left her paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. After the accident, she spent numerous hours volunteering by speaking to high school groups and other organizations about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. She also volunteered her time as a liaison for the residents that lived in Life Care Center and was instrumental in raising funds to purchase their van.
The years she spent at Life Care Center were used to encourage the other residents to be independent and lead as normal a life as was possible. Rose was a free spirit who touched every life that crossed her path.
Survivors include her children: Lynn Kenny Morman of Jonesboro, Ga, Wanda Stanfill of Mt. Pleasant, TN and Betty Lynn Eskew of Stockbridge Ga: Grandchildren: Katie, Cole and Travis Morman, Kayla and Emily Stanfill, Brandon and Hannah Rose Eskew, Melissa Scott Clark, found in a cabbage patch & adopted and loved by Rose; one sister Gayle Stanley, Mr. Goby Saylor of Columbia, Tn,; three brothers Joe Gail Bishop of Columbia, Tn. Bill Diane Bishop of Columbia, Tm. and John Bishop of parts unknown.
Several nieces and nephews; Heather Brady and her children Thomas and Tyler, William Osborne and his child Sydney, Vickie Carrier and her child Makayla, Joey Bishop and his child Olivia, Chris Bishop and his children Morgan, Owen and Isaiah, Billy Robinson, Jeff Bishop, Robby Robinson, Stephanie Messner.
And her lifelong friends Ray and Janice Heffington of Mt. Pleasant, Tn and Pete Bradford of Hohenwald, Tn.
She was preceded in death by one sister: Judy Lee Bishop and her son: Martin Eugene Bishop.
The family has requested that donations be made to MADD, 1100 Kermit Drive, Suite 22, Nashville, TN 37217.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Eskew, Cole Morman, Travis Morman, Tyler Stanfill, Joey Bishop and Chris Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Bradford, John and Pat Parrish, and the employees and staff of Life Care Center.
