Susan Elizabeth Szwakop McHenry, age 67, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, in her home surrounded by family in Columbia, Tennessee.
Susan was born on January 29, 1954, to the late Edward Szwakop and Patricia Wells Szwakop in Michigan.
Susan has been a long-time member of St. Peters Episcopal Church.
Susan was a kind and patient spirit. She always with open arms to receive anyone into her loving home. Susan always valued education and taught Pre-K at J.R. Baker Elementary until her retirement. She was a very passionate educator throughout all her years. Her favorite subject was teaching students how to read. Susan cherished the privilege of helping grow and nourish the young minds of her students.
Although her smarts have given her a very fulfilling life, Susan was also a woman of many talents. She was intuitively creative, spanning from painting to crocheting, she could make masterpieces with her own two hands. Susan was a fan of arts and crafts, her house remains full of many little and big projects that she acquired over the years. If you knew Susan, you knew was a devoted doll collecting enthusiast; her infamous doll collection will be something that friends and family will have to remember her by.
A Celebration of Life for Ms. Susan will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel in Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
She is survived by her three sons: Edward McHenry, Jarrod McHenry, and Nicholas McHenry; grandchildren: Coleton, Tatum, and Sadie; father of her children: Bob McHenry; mother: Patricia Szwakop; sister: Beth Jennings; and nephews and niece: Royce, Daniel, Johnathan, and Athena.
In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial contribution in honor of Ms. Susan to the Arizona Burn Foundation in Phoenix, Arizona.
