Sue Lentz Greene

Sue Lentz Greene, age 74, of Columbia, passed away on March 28, 2016, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Sue was born July 12, 1941, in Columbia, the daughter of the late Robert Sidney Lentz and Theola Lentz Brown. On June 1, 1959, she married David James Greene, and he preceded her in death in January of 1982.

Sue was a 1959 graduate of Columbia Central High School and was of the Church of Christ faith. Sue was a former employee of the Maury County Water System and the City of Columbia. She enjoyed cooking for family parties and made special birthday cakes for each family member, which evolved into a small business of making cakes for the public. She proudly kept an immaculate home and longed for the day she could return to it.

Funeral services for Sue will be conducted Friday, April 1, at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Randy McNeece officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, March 31, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her three sons, Jay (Phyllis) Greene of Mt. Pleasant, Scott (Lisa) Greene of Culleoka and Jeff (Connie) Greene of Columbia; six grandchildren, Kelley (Tony) Gray, Sawyer (Jenny) Greene, Brooke (Blake) Davis, Taylor Greene, Ben Greene and Brian Greene; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Cothran and Sara Haddock of Columbia and Doris Ann (Roy) Head of Clarksville; sisters-in-law, Martha Lentz of Columbia and Norma Lentz of Jackson, TN; brothers-in-law, Mike (Sharon) Greene and Pat (Debbie) Greene, both of Columbia. She is also survived by a special friend, Rachel Foster, her NHC roommate.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sue was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Lentz, Albert Lentz, Herbert Lentz and Frank Lentz; her sister: Mary Frances Henderson; brothers-in-law, Wayne Cothran, Jerry Haddock and Robert L. Henderson and a special friend, Charlie Richardson and step-father, Thomas M. Brown.

Pallbearers will be Tony Gray, Sawyer Greene, Blake Davis, Taylor Greene, Ben Greene and Brian Greene. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and technicians in the ICU at Maury Regional Medical Center for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
