Sonya Lee Remer George, age 50 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away May 10, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center after a six month battle with cancer.
Sonya was born January 17, 1964 to Shirley Ann Randolph and the late Clarence Wayne Remer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She worked for Crown Pools and was very good at any job placed in front of her. Friends and family shared that she was the best at everything she set her mind to. “If she wanted to fish, she would out fish anyone… if she wanted to work, she would outwork anyone.” Sonya was fortunate for the many blessings in life, but it wasn’t until she had her entire family and group of friends over for a barbeque that she felt most fortunate. She loved and cherished the time spent with her friends and family. She loved rescuing animals or any strays that would show up, she was sure to care for them.
In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be conducted at her home on Memorial Day Weekend, May 24. Sonya always looked forward to Memorial Day and many other holiday gatherings.
Sonya is survived by her mother, Shirley Ann Randolph, her longtime partner in life, Jay Cory, her sons, David Osborne and Matthew Capperton, granddaughters, Hannah Eastep and Cameron Eastep, brothers, Tim Remer, Lloyd Blackston, Terry Remer, Danny Remer, Phillip Owings and Keith Remer, her two best friends and “road dogs” Karen Oakley Romero and Tammy (Rodney) Ballinger, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made payable to Williams Funeral Home in lieu of flowers.
